Many Military friends currently are preparing for deployment for yet another overseas tour within their unit. A few days ago the Brigadeheld their deployment ceremony where units “cased their colors” for the trip overseas. On Veteran’s Day I shared with you my participation in Cheerio’s SendCheer campaign in conjunction with the USO and deployed military members across the globe. This is the 2nd part of that story.
After searching for a week at my local Wal-Mart, I finally found a few boxes of the specially marked boxes of Cheerios. I bought two boxes (one for each of my boys) and took them home. I used the opportunity to discuss with them the upcoming deployment (as my own soldier may take part in this deployment) and how some soldiers do not have a support system in place. They leave for months away from home without having someone to write them, remind them of home, and be there for when they return.
After the completion of the deployment ceremony where the reality of yet another deployment was front and center, we cut out the postcards, talked about what they might mean to the soldiers who receive them, and why it’s important to support our troops.
While we may not agree in the politics behind the deployments, I feel we should always support our troops and their families. The troops do not get a choice of where they’re sent, when sent, or for how long –they go where they are told.
It is possible for every American to support our troops, andwith the help of Cheerios and the USO, it is now easier than ever.

Such a great campaign I have loved reading everyone’s posts! Happy Holidays
Love this campaign–I also had to look around for the boxes! Sending prayers for your friends heading overseas! My husband was supposed to deploy last month but it got sidelined, thank God!
